Carved in 1893 by sculptor Josef Lax, this marble Horse Tamer (Rossebändiger) flanks the western balustrade of Maria-Theresien-Platz in Vienna. Embodying late 19th-century Ringstraße dynamism, the composition plays the tense musculature and billowing drapery of an athletic youth against the explosive power of a rearing steed.

Continuing with the series here is the fourth train I photographed about 70 seconds after the prior shot.

This is the famous Harlem 125th Street station located at about MP 4.1 atop the Park Avenue viaduct where the view from the south of the platform looks compass southwest down Manhattan Island offering fabulous views on a sunny summer morning. In this ongoing series of posts I am going to fill up my album with at least one image of every train I shot in the span of only 90 minutes camped out in the sun at the end of the platform between mains 3 and 1 beginning just after 9 AM. Unfortunately I have none of the train numbers for any of what I photographed, as it was simply impossible to log them from the radar app because to even take the seconds required to look at the app then type the number would have meant missing the next move. Grand Central Terminal sees up to 1000 Metro North trains a day and there is no other way in or out except through here so the volume is simply astounding beyond anything I’ve ever witnessed.

A set of vintaage Budd built M3As, of which 142 were built for Metro North in 1984-85 as part of the second to last cars ever produced in the company's famed Red Lion plant in Philadelphia, head inbound to GCT on Main 1.

See the earlier posts for a lengthy caption with much more history of this line and some of the surrounding structures.

11 September 2026 12:16

Megérkezett a MÁV legújabb bérelt Vectronja, a korábban a Flixtrain által használt 193 431. A mozdony először a korábbi bérlő színeiben állt be dolgozni Magyarországon, az alábbi képen a 371-es számú, Budapest-Keletiből Aradra tartó Zaránd InterCityvel halad a mozdony Nagykáta után szeptember 13-án kora reggel.

MÁV’s latest leased Vectron—unit 193 431, formerly operated by Flixtrain—has arrived. The locomotive initially entered service in Hungary wearing its previous operator’s livery; the photo below shows it hauling the Zaránd InterCity (train no. 371) from Budapest-Keleti to Arad, just past Nagykáta, on the early morning of September 13.
